Why bespoke joinery lasts longer than you expect
12 March 2026 · Design
Most homeowners do not choose bespoke because they want something unusual. They choose it because they are tired of doors that drop, panels that telegraph every bump, and cabinets that never quite sit flush with the wall.
Structure before styling
A beautiful kitchen can still feel wrong if the carcasses flex, hinges creep, or worktops sit on uneven supports. At HausBespoke we treat structure as part of the design brief: load paths, fixing methods, and service voids are resolved before the first finish sample is signed off.
That approach also makes future changes kinder. Appliances evolve, layouts shift, and a well-documented, well-built carcass is easier to adapt than a sealed unit that was never meant to be opened again.
Finishing that earns daily use
Paint systems, edge treatments, and hardware are chosen for the reality of family kitchens and busy hallways, not only for how they photograph at handover. If you are comparing quotes, ask how edges are sealed, how doors are adjusted over time, and what happens when a panel needs to be removed for access.
What to ask before you sign
Request fixing details for wall and base units, hinge and runner brands, and how scribes and infills cope with walls that are not plumb. A serious workshop can explain carcass material, thickness, and how shelves are supported without hesitation. Vague answers there often predict vague work on site.
We document what we build so that if you sell the house, or refit a decade later, the next owner or designer understands what is behind the doors. That paperwork is part of the product, not an extra.
Living with timber joinery
Seasonal humidity moves timber slightly; good hinges and adjustment range absorb that. Avoid slamming full-height doors on the hottest day of the year and expect to tweak a screw or two in the first year as the house settles. We show you what you are allowed to adjust yourself and when to call us.
