Bespoke kitchens & joinery in Wimbledon

Bespoke kitchens, wardrobes, and fitted joinery for Wimbledon's Village houses and Edwardian family homes, from the Village conservation area to the Common.

Home / Locations / Bespoke kitchens & joinery in Wimbledon

Wimbledon splits between the Village, with its conservation area houses and independent shops near the Common, and the wider streets of Edwardian and interwar family homes running down toward the town centre. HausBespoke designs and builds bespoke kitchens, wardrobes, and fitted joinery for both, made to measure in our own workshop and detailed to suit family life as much as period architecture.

Village houses and wider family streets

Wimbledon Village's conservation area houses, many close to the Common, tend to have well-preserved period detailing and a genuine expectation that any new joinery will respect it. We design kitchens and cabinetry that sit comfortably alongside existing cornicing, panelled doors, and sash windows, using Shaker doors, painted finishes, and traditional mouldings rather than a jarring contemporary insert.

The wider streets of Edwardian and interwar family houses toward the town centre generally offer more flexibility for a contemporary layout, and we see a lot of rear and side-return extensions here, similar in spirit to the projects we design further north in Wandsworth and Fulham.

Kitchens built around family life

Wimbledon's family households are often juggling school runs, sports kit, and a kitchen that needs to work as homework space as much as a place to cook. We design storage and layout around that reality: a boot room or bench for kit and shoes, an island with genuine seating, and enough worktop and storage to survive a Sunday batch-cook without feeling chaotic.

Where a project is extension-led, typically a side-return or rear addition opening the kitchen into the garden, we coordinate cabinetry design with the builder or architect delivering the extension, so structural openings, service runs, and floor finishes are resolved together.

Wardrobes and storage that grows with the family

Children's bedrooms in particular benefit from wardrobes designed to adapt: adjustable hanging heights, drawer stacks that can be reconfigured, and enough flexibility that a nursery layout can evolve into a teenager's room without needing to be replaced. We design with that lifespan in mind rather than a fixed layout that only suits the room's first year.

Principal bedrooms, particularly in the larger Village and family houses, can often support a proper dressing room or a full floor-to-ceiling wardrobe wall, which we design around existing chimney breasts, alcoves, and picture rails where the property has them.

Home offices and playroom joinery

With more home working and more time spent locally than a decade ago, we're building more fitted home offices in Wimbledon than we used to: a proper desk, concealed cable management, and bookshelving that looks considered on a video call rather than makeshift.

Playroom and family room storage is another common request, closed cabinetry to hide toys and clutter when needed, open shelving for what's in daily use, and durable finishes that can survive a genuinely busy household.

Questions clients ask

Do you design kitchens for houses in Wimbledon Village's conservation area?

Yes. We design cabinetry and detailing that respects existing period features in the Village conservation area, and can coordinate with a conservation officer or heritage-aware architect where the project requires it.

Can you design wardrobes that adapt as children grow?

Yes. We design children's bedroom wardrobes with adjustable hanging heights and reconfigurable internals, so the same wardrobe can suit a young child's room and, later, a teenager's, without needing replacement.

Do you build fitted home offices as well as kitchens and wardrobes?

Yes. We design fitted home offices, including desks, cable management, and bookshelving, along with playroom and family room storage, as part of our wider joinery service.
